MAGAR DZONG AT MANGSHARI , WEST SIKKIM

Before the consecration of Phuntsok Namgyal the first Chogyal ,

Sikkim was divided into small district which were ruled

by kings and chieftains of Lepcha and Magar clans.

The Magar king Sintu Pati Sen Magar established

a vast Magar kindoms at Magardzong at Mangshari

was the centre of his administration. After the

concretion of Phuntsok Namgyal he began to

subdue the small chieftains. While the Limboo

and the Lepcha bowed down to the

Phuntsok Namgyal accompanied by a

large army from Tibet and the army of

Magar king Sintu Pati Sen Magar.

In the ensuing war the Magar king was defeated.

The ruin and the palace can be seen at

Nagardzong at Mangshari.

As large settlements of Tamangs have come

up in the area the sign of the ruined for is minimal.

There is a large mound which is set to be
