Before the consecration of Phuntsok Namgyal the first Chogyal , Sikkim was divided into small district which were ruled by kings and chieftains of Lepcha and Magar clans. |
The Magar king Sintu Pati Sen Magar established a vast Magar kindoms at Magardzong at Mangshari was the centre of his administration. After the concretion of Phuntsok Namgyal he began to subdue the small chieftains. While the Limboo and the Lepcha bowed down to the Phuntsok Namgyal accompanied by a large army from Tibet and the army of Magar king Sintu Pati Sen Magar. In the ensuing war the Magar king was defeated. |
The ruin and the palace can be seen at Nagardzong at Mangshari. As large settlements of Tamangs have come up in the area the sign of the ruined for is minimal. There is a large mound which is set to be the erstwhile palace of the magar king. |

Silver jubilee Basibinyalo celebration at Singtam (East Sikkim)
on 24th may 2010 Singtam Basibinyalo today celebrated Silver Jubilee month of Basibinyalo at East point Senior Secondary School in a grand manner. MLA Khamdong-Singtam was present as the chief guest of the programme. On the occasion, the Chief guest handed over Identity cards to all Basibinyalo Members. Nandu Dutraj "Nisha" editor of Nepali weekly newspaper'Naya Halchal"and Sangeeta Pradhan were felicitated by basibinyalo founder Mohan Pradhan Neeraj.
The newly formed committee named 'Tinjurey Sahitya Prakashan' of Khamdong also felicitate writer and Basibinyalo founder Mohan Pradhan Neeraj with certificate and mementoes.
Tinjurey Sahitya Prakashan has decided to print one literary book shortly, while Mr. Pradhan has announce to start one local channel for Singtam to cover the news and views ans as well as provide plateform for local talants. Poetry recitation, singing and mimicry programme were also organised.
